On 12 Feb 2009, Minister for Textile Industry Mr. Muhammad Farooq Saeed khan distributed the certificates and stipend of Rs. 3000/- among successful trainees. The program was organized by Ministry of Textile Industry in collaboration with International Labor Organization (ILO) held in Auditorium of Institute of Business & Technology (BIZTEK).
Joint Secretary MINTEX Islamabad Mr. farkhand Iqbal, textile Commissioner Mr. Idrees Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of BIZTEK University Col. Tahir Hussain, representative of ILO and Textile Trade Associations were present in the ceremony.
The program was started to impart of skills to women to enhance their capability and productivity to cater the requirements of local Textile industry, which will consequently lead to their empowerment and economic independence. This program has been organized to target two classes of Woman, one of semi-literate women (courses in Industrial sewing and pattern cutting) and other for literate women (for courses in merchandising and quality control). 300 women were trained under the program at Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad.
The Karachi, 70 women were trained at Pakistan Ready made garment technical Training Institute and Institute of Business and technology (BIZTEK) for two month class-room training and practical training has also been given in different Textile Units.
