Dr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh, Associate Professor, Biztek participated International Conference on Conflict Management, Peace Economics and Peace Science, 11-13 January 2010 Jointly organized by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, India & Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (GSDS), New Delhi, India, United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO, India), in cooperation of Economists for Peace and Security, Peace Science Society (International), Binghamton University, State University of New York at Binghamton, USA and International Center for Conflict Prevention and Management, Sydney, Australia.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU is a national university of India. It was established in 1985 and was named after former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. It is the largest university of the world.
The conference was consisted of 3 days. It was inaugurated by Dr. Karan Singh, Former Federal Minister & Governor of Jammu & Kashmir now presently the Chairman of the AICC Foreign Department and was finished by Dr. Shri Bhishma Narain Singh, Former Governor, Tamil Nadu. The conferences was based on various themes including Peace Economics, Conflict and Peace in South Asia, Nuclear Proliferation, Military Spending, Democracy and Conflict, Conflict in Economic and Fiscal Crisis, Global Security and Terrorism, and relevance of Gandhi for Peace Economics & Peace Studies.

Dr. Riaz presented his paper in the 3rd session of the paper and the topic was Afghan War-Global Jihad and Sectarian Conflict in Pakistan-Internal and External Links. Including Pakistan many high reputed scholars from different part of the world participated in this conference including USA, Spain, Japan, Australia, China, Switzerland etc and shared their views and thoughts.
