Institute of Business and Technology (BIZTEK) held its first national conference on cyber technology. 21 research papers covering the different aspects of this technology were presented. Renowned universities and institutes of country including GIK Topi, NUST Islamabad, NED, Comsats institute of Information and Technology, Karachi University, IBA scholars represented their papers. Conference was inaugurated by Mr. Hamid Hussain Abdi, Advisor to Chief Minister on Information & Achieves. Dr. A. R. Memon was the presiding chairman. In his speech Mr. Abidi said that Science and Scientific innovations have really changed the human life. Human history has been seen a rapid developments in the scientific knowledge in the last 3 to 4 centuries. Industrial Revolution of England placed the first brick of modern scientific knowledge which has shown marvelous progress. Introduction of computer in fact changed the mind set of human beings and the revolution brought by the media through information technology and satellite has made this world a global village in true senses. The speed with which the things are moving, we exactly do not know how rapidly changes will occur in human society and modern educational institutes and centers of higher learning are means of new discoveries and introduction of scientific knowledge. Its good to see that BIZTEK is contributing in this regard.
Whereas Dr. Atta ur Rehman, Federal Minister / Chairman HEC was the Chief Guest of the closing Ceremony. Dr. Atta urRehman in his speech said that in today’s world it is difficult for a country to stand upright in the community of nations without education. Foreseeing future requirements, the government has decided to increase share of education to 4% of GDP. During the last 2 years the education Budget increased by 36%. These programs include the recently launched National Internship program, establishment of National Vocational and Technical Commission, increased budgetary allocation for social sectors especially education including higher education through Higher Education Commission (HEC). He said if the nation can generate at least 100,000 high quality IT graduates, we may earn foreign exchange of US $ 3 billion per year. Unfortunately we failed to educate 100,000 high quality IT graduates in Pakistan. Let us all as a nation take resolute steps towards knowledge based education by disc plating uncertainly and being confidence beck in our youth he said due to the present Govt ‘s incentives the rapid growth in telecommunication sector resulted in creation of 90,000 jobs were only in the last year. During the current financial year 520 billion under PSDP have been allocated which would be spent on development of Pakistanis. He said in the last financial year, FDI in Pakistan exceeded $ 6 billion US $ 75 collected through Euro Bond reflect the confidence in the economy of the country.
Before this Chancellor of BIZTEK Mr. Noman Abid Lakhani & Vice Chairman Col. (R) Tahir Hussain highlighted the importance of this conference. |
